The machine for finishing workpiece surfaces, e.g. with a file or chisel, has a push rod (38) with a linear reciprocating movement to move the tool. The push rod drive has a drive eccentric (21) and compensation eccentric (31) which are pushed on to the drive shaft (3). The compensation eccentric is keyed to the drive shaft by a parallel pin (22) inserted into a collar (19) of the drive shaft. A second and parallel pin (32), inserted into the drive shaft collar, keys the drive eccentric.
