The mechanism (3) to pull empty bobbin sleeves (12) from their carrier plates (7) has a continuous belt (13) which grips the sleeve at one side and which is pitched at an upwards angle away from the carrier plate path. The belt passes around deflection wheels (15, 16). At least the leading belt deflection wheel (15) is on an eccentric mounting. The system to pull empty bobbin sleeves from their carrier plates has an eccentric mounting for both deflection wheels of the bobbin extraction belt. The belt is a toothed belt, with the teeth (17) meshing with corresponding teeth (18) at the belt deflection wheels. The deflection wheel movements are synchronized through the coupling of the belt between them. Two belts (13,14) can be used, with eccentric deflection wheels (15, 15', 16, 16'). Supports (22, 22') hold the belts in position between their end deflection wheels, to apply a minimum holding pressure on the empty bobbin sleeves held between them.
