PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for joining the impeller and the front cover of a torque converter capable of dispensing with machining work or lessening an amount of the machining work after assembling the torque converter. SOLUTION: In joining a cover-side outer periphery portion 2a of the front cover and an impeller-side outer periphery portion 3a1 of the impeller in the torque converter, an impeller-side recessed portion 32 is formed on the impeller- side outer periphery portion 3a1 and a cover-side end 21 of the cover-side outer periphery portion 2a is formed in shape corresponding to the impeller-side recessed portion 32. Then, the cover-side end 21 and the impeller-side recessed portion 32 are shrinkage-fitted and engaged with each other while applying an adhesive thereto.
