PROCESS FOR THE CONTINUOUS MANUFACTURE OF SLABSTOCK POLYURETHANE FOAM AND INSTALLATION FOR APPLYING THE PROCESS

The invention relates to a process for the continuous manufacture of slabstock polyurethane foam and to an installation especially conceived for applying the process, said installation being designed for applications in plastics manufacturing. According to the invention, the process provides that, during the free expansion and polymerization of the reaction mixture, besides producing the expanding gas, simultaneously with the gas evacuation from the expanding and polymerization space, a gas is fed continuously to maintain the pressure in that space in a preset pressure interval between 0.5 and 10 baryes, and to keep the temperature between 10 and 75 degree C. The installation for the process application is provided with a means (33) for the continuous feeding of gas in the enclosure (2) during the free expansion and polymerization and the simultaneous gas evacuation from the enclosure using the gas pumping means (25) to reduce the pressure fluctuation in said enclosure.
