A pictographic arrow (1) including a fixed length base arrow (2) and variable length arrow (3), is displayed on an electronic display unit for indicating direction change of vehicle. The length of the variable length arrow continuously reduces as the vehicle approaches the desired direction. The arrows (2,3) are represented in different colors and shades.
