The mobile swivelling belt conveyor (3) for use in open-cast mining is mounted on a pivoting mechanism (13) on a feed wagon (1) and is made up of two sections (3a, 3b) connected by a second pivot (Z). These are supported by cables allowing them to be raised and inclined with respect to each other using a lift system (8a, 8b). An Independent claim is included for a method for operating the conveyor.
