METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR MEASURING TRAFFIC

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an equipment for measuring the traffic of a link containing a large number of connections in which the scale of hardware can be reduced as compared with a conventional one. SOLUTION: Upon arrival of a cell (ST1), header information is extracted (ST2) and a decision is made whether that cell is for a connection of which traffic is measured or not (ST3). If it is for a connection of which traffic is not measured, an item of that connection is provided additionally on table B. When the cell of a new connection arrives (ST3) and no space is present in the table B, the item of a connection having a lowest count is deleted from the table B (ST5) in order to measure the traffic of the new connection and the information of traffic measurement of the new connection is written in that item (ST6).
