PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, where an intermediate transfer body can be detached easily from a device body. SOLUTION: In the device, the intermediate transfer body is freely detachable from above the image forming apparatus by constituting the intermediate transfer body, so that it is laid across the upper and lower rolls under a tensioned condition and it is formed in a belt form so as to travel vertically.
