PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a heat developable image recording material by which aqueous coating liquids excellent in stability and appliability can be simultaneously applied in stacked layers. SOLUTION: The method for producing a heat developable image recording material includes a step for forming an organic silver layer and a protective layer by simultaneously applying at least one aqueous coating liquid for the organic silver layer containing a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions, a binder and 0.14 to <0.4 mass% anionic surfactant and at least one aqueous coating liquid for the protective layer in stacked layers.
