A decoding unit (111) decodes encoded data inputted to video data, and outputs the video data as occasion to a video data writing unit (112). Each time a predetermined amount (e.g., one frame) of video data is outputted, a decoding end notifying signal is outputted to a video data reading unit (114) and a control signal producing unit (115). The video data writing unit (112) writes the video data in a storage unit (113) as occasion. The video data reading unit (114) operates intermittently at timings at which the encoding end notifying signal is inputted, to read a predetermined amount of video data (201) from the storage unit (113). The control signal producing unit (115) produces a control signal (206) for designation a new portion in the video data decoded by the decoding means. In response to a decoding end notifying signal (204), the video data reading unit (114) outputs the control signal (206) synchronously with the timing at which the output from a video data outputting unit (116). Without any outside accessory circuit, therefore, the video data can be intermittently transferred from a decoding device (101) to a display device (121) thereby to reduce the size and lower the power consumption of a mobile terminal device for video communication and to lighten the processing load required to monitor an MPU. |
