PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of reheating capacity and cooling/heating capacity during dehumidification operation using a small expansion valve. SOLUTION: The air conditioner provided with a 2WAY motor expansion valve 9 in the way of the refrigerant circuit of an indoor heat exchanger 25 constituting a refrigeration cycle comprises a throttling mechanism having a throttling means disposed in the 2WAY motor expansion valve 9, means for driving the throttling means, and a mechanism having first piping 119 and second piping 120 coupled with the 2WAY motor expansion valve 9 and communicating with the throttling means, respectively, on the front side and rear side thereof wherein the throttling means is provided with a protrusion 8 on a shaft 112 and the throttling ratio is altered by varying the position of a valve element 109 interlocked with the shaft 112 thereby varying the position relative to a valve seat at the time of dehumidification operation and dehumidification quantity is regulated by regulating the flow rate and, at the time of cooling or heating, the throttling mechanism is eliminated by moving a throttling base 2 by means of the protrusion 8 and the first piping 119 is interconnected with the second piping 120 without throttling the flow rate.
