PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform hardware expansion to the optimal specification without making it necessary to perform any manual extending work such as the exchange or extension of hardware in response to the increase of the requested specifications of a computer for a use as a server. SOLUTION: A computer 100 to be extended, which is provided with hardware capable of setting the upper limit of available specifications, is connected via a network to a server 200. The computer 100 to be extended monitors the utilizing ratio of the hardware, and transmits the result via the network to the server 200, and the server 200 discriminates the validity/invalidity of the expansion of the objective hardware, base on the received hardware utilizing ratio. If it is necessary, the server 200 notifies the computer 100 to be extended of a specifications expansion request telegraphic message. The computer to be expanded releases the upper limit of the objective hardware based on the specifications expansion request telegraphic message, and enhances specifications.
