A method and corresponding device for knock recognition in an internal combustion engine with at least one cylinder are disclosed, whereby signals are recorded within a given time window, which occur as a result of a combustion in the at least one cylinder. The time window is altered, depending upon the air ratio lambda obtained in the particular cylinder.
