摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission path monitoring system capable of effectively monitoring an optical fiber and an optical repeater while using the OTDR probe light having mutually different wave lengths by taking into consideration respective transmission path characteristics of these members. SOLUTION: A wave length different from a signal light wave length of a wave length multiple optical transmission system is allocated to the probe light of an OTDR to monitor a light transmission path. At this time, the probe light of the OTDR having different wave lengths on the respective optical fiber and light repeater being an element for constituting the optical transmission path is allocated. The different wave lengths are allocated to the probe light of the OTDR in an upward line and a downward line, a wave length (normally, the short wave length side of a zero dispersion wave length of the light transmission path) becoming negative in wave length dispersion of the optical transmission path is allocated to the probe light of the OTDR for monitoring the optical fiber, and a wave length on the long wave length side more than 1550 nm is allocated to the probe light of the OTDR for monitoring the light repeater.
