PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set with extended function and its control method in which many functions and convenience are realized, operability can be improved by reducing malfunctions caused by useless complex operation, and a maker copes with complex needs of users with one kind of apparatus and can reduce the manufacturing cost of a telephone set. SOLUTION: In the telephone set with extended function and its control method, an EEPROM 18' for storing the state of function mode of a basic function or an extended function, and a function key 16 for indicating the switching of the state of function mode are installed. A function mode sequence table 20 for specifying the order of execution of the function mode is installed in a memory 15'. A control unit 17 refers the state of function mode in the EEPROM 18' by indication of switching the state of function mode which is given from the function key 16, switches over the state of function mode according to the table 20, and performs management of the function mode.
