PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recorder that can enhance operability of a user by automatically editing a recorded program, when a reserved program is recorded and can effectively utilize a recording area of a recording medium. SOLUTION: A user sets a video recording start time and a video recording end time with a margin of a degree, with respect to an objective program broadcast schedule time in the case of setting video recording reservation. The video recorder 1 detects a recording area, in which the objective program by the user is recorded from video recording data recorded on a recording disk medium from the video recording start time, until the video recording end time, sets this area to be a write inhibit area, so as to effectively utilize the recording area of the recording medium and enhance the operability of the user.
