PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a length measuring device which can reduce measurement error by excluding the Abbe error due to a position change generated between coupling components of a slider and a carriage when a relative motion is generated at the slider and the carriage. SOLUTION: In one end in the movement direction of the carriage 32, the carriage 32 and the slider 33 are coupled by a tensile coil spring 41A and a tensile coil spring 41B which have an elastic force in a direction in which the carriage 32 and the slider 33 are pulled to each other in a state that the carriage 32 and the slider 33 are brought into contact through a roller bearing so as to hold a sphere 40 by a plate bearing part 37 and a conical bearing part 39.
