METHOD FOR EXTRACTING CHARACTER AREA IN IMAGE

A method for extracting a character area in an image in which restriction on the object scene image is little and the processing is automatically executed. The method comprising the steps: the step of acquiring a scene image as color electronic information, the step of dividing color information on the pixels constituting the color electronic information into k (k is an integer of two or more) clusters, the step of creating candidate images by using information on to which cluster each pixel belongs, and the step of extracting a character area by detecting an area included in candidate images.
