Hydroformylation of 2-8C olefins comprises: (a) catalytically reacting an olefin containing saturated hydrocarbon (SHC) with CO and H2; (b) separating off a stream of unreacted olefin and SHC and contacting it with an olefin-selective membrane to give an olefin-enriched permeate and an olefin-depleted retentate; and (c) recycling at least part of the permeate back to the reaction zone.
