A method for making a molded plastic article comprising the steps of providing a mold (10) having an inner surface (12) and covering the mold surface (12) with a mask (14) wherein the mask (14) leaves a portion of the inner mold surface (12) exposed. This is followed by application of a liquid comprising a first polymer material within the exposed portion of the inner mold surface (12) and at least partially solidifying the liquid comprising the first polymer material on the exposed portion. The mask (14) is then removed, followed by the application of a particulate comprising a second polymer material to the second region of the mold surface (12) and a portion of the partially solidified first polymer and bonding together the first and second polymer material.
