PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a high definition and low power consumption liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: In the method for driving a liquid crystal display device of an n-line inversion method in which an analog voltage applied to each pixel in a liquid crystal display panel in synchronization with a rewrite signal is maintained to be of the same polarity for a prescribed period, when a polarity signal to decide the polarity of the pixel remains unchanged, the pixels are not short-circuited with each other, but when the polarity signal is inverted, a short-circuit signal is generated, and pixels to be polarity-inverted are shorted with each other. Thus, an amplifier circuit is decreased in a burden for driving the pixels for the non-inverting period of the polarity.
