PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clogging detecting device, a video display device and a clogging detecting method by which the clogging of a filter can be accurately detected by an easy method. SOLUTION: This video display device 1 is provided with a fan 3 for cooling at least some of optical parts inside the device 1. A suction port 1B for taking air in from the outside is formed on the housing 1A of the device 1, and a dust-proof filter 4 is attached to the port 1B. The controller 5 of the device 1 counts a rotation signal outputted from a motor 32 driving the fan 3. When the counted number exceeds a specified value, the controller 5 judges that situation as the clogging of the filter 4.
