PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display medium having memory property, high contrast and resolution and fast response rate in which reversible display is possible, and to provide an image display medium which shows high selectivity for materials and good long-term stability and which maintains safeness for practical use. SOLUTION: The medium contains a dispersion liquid comprising at least white or color particles, hydrocarbon solvent, resin soluble with the hydrocarbon solvent and compound having nonionic polar groups between two conductive layers which are disposed with a desired gap formed between the layers and at least one of which or both have light transmitting property. The medium features either that (A) the white or color particles have acidic groups on at least surfaces and the resin soluble with the hydrocarbon solvent has at least basic groups or that (B) the white or color particles have basic groups on the surfaces and the resin soluble with the hydrocarbon solvent has at least acidic groups.
