PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for displaying additional information, capable of displaying additional information related with video information being included in a broadcast signal and purchasing merchandise indicated by the video information, and to provide a computer-readable recording medium. SOLUTION: When a user selects a video displayed on a display screen by a pointer (step S302), link information corresponding to the coordinates of the video is retrieved and acquired (steps S303-S306). Then, additional information related to the video is acquired from an additional information providing server indicated by a prescribed URL, based on the acquired link information (steps S307 and S308). The acquired additional information is converted into a prescribed video signal and outputted as a signal to be displayed as a video acquired by operating overlay processing to the original video of the additional information (steps S309 and S310). Also, when the original video of the additional information is a purchasable merchandise, a purchase procedure is executed based on a prescribed operation.
