PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner in which refrigeration capacity is enhanced by stabilizing the liquid level in a gas/liquid separator thereby ensuring conduction only of liquid refrigerant to an evaporator. SOLUTION: A gas/liquid separator is coupled between a first flow rate controller and an evaporator. Furthermore, first bypass piping having one end coupled with the gas/liquid separator and the other end coupled with main piping extending from the evaporator to a compressor and provided, in the way thereof, with a heat recovery heat exchanger for exchanging heat between refrigerant flowing through the main piping and refrigerant flowing through the first bypass piping is provided along with a liquid level controller for controlling the liquid level of refrigerant in the gas/liquid separator constantly.
