PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modulation signal generator, which decrease the circuit scale of a correcting circuit particularly for triangular wave modulation signals, and at the same time, reduces distance/velocity errors in relation to an FM-CW radar. SOLUTION: The modulation signal generator FM modulates the outputs of a voltage-controlled oscillator in the FM-CW radar system. The apparatus is constituted of a gradient data output part for holding and outputting frequency gradient data showing a frequency transition of modulation signals, after each lapse of a prescribed time as digital data, a analog-analog converter for converting the frequency gradient data outputted from the gradient data output part into corresponding analog gradient step signals, and an integrating circuit for sequentially integrating gradient step signals from the digital/analog converter, thereby generating modulation signals.
