PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grain oriented silicon steel sheet having an insulating film in which bending adhesion in a direction orthogonal to the rolling direction is extremely excellent and optimum for the core and shield of a direct ignition. SOLUTION: As to this grain oriented silicon steel sheet suitable for direct ignition, in a grain oriented silicon steel sheet having a forsterite layer and formed with an inorganic insulating film on the upper layer, the total of the film tension of the forsterite layer and the inorganic insulating film is <=8 MPa, and the ratio in coating weight of the forsterite layer to the inorganic insulating film is 0.3 to 2.0.
