The invention relates to a method and a system for illumination a site with light from light sources above or beside the site, and where illumination is controlled by pesonnel present at the site. The control is effected by the personnel establishing a location at the site and a direction to the site towards which and along which the light from the light sources is to be directed. A pointing device establishes the location and the direction, and detection means detects this location and direction. Control means controls the light sources in response to the detection of the detection means.
