The brake shoe consists of a specifically contoured base (2) and relatively smaller stiffener (3) to give two separately deep-drawn components joined positively to one another in permanent sandwich format. The sandwich structure is maintained at the centre hole (7), flange holes (8) and thrust bearing (31) as opposed to the area of the wheel brake cylinder connecting pin hole (10) where only the sheet material of the base (2) is present. Base and stiffener adjoin via a vibration absorbing or modulating interlayer. The base and stiffener should be fixed permanently to one another by a series of upset and extruded circular points (16) and the rectangular hole (10) for the cylinder pin has strip projections (13) of the base (2) sheet material at the longitudinal sides (11) of the hole (10) which pack tight in point or linear form onto the pin by wedging them over on assembly. The opposing transverse sides (12) of the hole (10) are flanged (15) out off the outside of the base ( 2) appropriate to the outside contour of the brake cylinder so as to seal positively to this.
