A system 10 is provided for ventilating gas, such as hydrogen gas due to the presence of a fuel cell 14, from a vehicle 12. The system includes at least one sensor 18 which generates a signal in response to the presence of a gas, at least one fan 22 disposed within the vehicle, and a controller 16 coupled to the sensor/s so as to selectively activate the fan/s for a predetermined period of time and therefore substantially prevent the gas collecting in areas of the vehicle. The sensors and fans may be located within areas such as the passenger compartment, the boot/trunk, and beneath the bonnet/hood. The system may also be provided with a further sensor 20 which may detect when the vehicle is being refuelled, is in use, or when a door is open, so as to selectively operate the fans thereby ventilating the vehicle. |
