PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is provided to improve the quality of the liquid crystal display and the reliability by forming radially tilted orientation of domain, and to stabilize radially tilted orientation by forming a protrusion in an opening of a pixel electrode. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device(100) is composed of plural pixel regions defined by a first electrode installed on a face substrate facing a liquid crystal layer and a second electrode mounted on a second substrate to oppose the first electrode through the liquid crystal layer. The first electrode has plural openings(14a) and a solid portion(14b) in each pixel region. The vertical orientation is formed in the liquid crystal layer if voltage is not applied between the first electrode and the second electrode, and liquid crystal domains with radially inclined orientation are formed in the openings and the solid portion by inclined electrode fields generated at edge portions of the openings of the first electrode.
