PURPOSE: A method of assigning channel resources using channel statistical information is provided to increase successful assignment rates of idle channels in an initial retrieval process, by retrieving the idle channels on a sort table for sorting the channel resources according to successful assignment availability. CONSTITUTION: If a sort table is made based on statistical information(21), a subject for receiving a call setup request of an object initializes a variable for calculating the number of retrieval times, and retrieves idle resources on a sort table. If the variable satisfies a smaller condition than the number of channel resources, the subject confirms whether a top resource is used on the sort table(22-23). If so, the subject increases the variable by 1(24). If the idle channels are not confirmed while retrieving all channel resources, the subject informs the object of a channel activation failure(25). If the idle channels are confirmed by retrieving the sort table, the subject displays channel resources of a resource table indicated by a corresponding item of the sort table as a usage state(27). If information of the sort table is changed, the subject moves a resource table of the information, and updates information on states of the channel resources(28). The subject assigns assignable channel resources, and transmits an activation reply to the object(29).
