PURPOSE: A method for recovering a virtual path and channel information is provided, which can cancel and recover a band and a connection identifier remained in a switch interface module(SIM)/translator interface module(TIM) by an abnormal state while canceling a dedicated line virtual path and virtual channel in an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) switching system. CONSTITUTION: According to the method, when a refresh request as to a connection dedicated line from an administrator, an inputted command and a system are checked, and a connection number per subscriber interface module as to the dedicated line is checked in a database. Then, after reading the connection information according to the connection number of the dedicated line from the database, a state of the switch interface module(SIM)/translator interface module(TIM) is checked. After calculating IPC(Inter Process Communication) of the switch interface module(SIM)/translator interface module(TIM), all dedicated line information removal is requested to the switch interface module(SIM)/translator interface module(TIM), and the updating as to the information read from the database is requested to the switch interface module(SIM)/translator interface module(TIM), and the result is informed to an administrator terminal.
