PURPOSE: A sliding-type portable terminal is provided to install an LCD, a main PCB, and an antenna device on a sliding housing, as transmitting signals by an infrared LED, so as to reduce electrical connections and to open/close the portable terminal with one hand. CONSTITUTION: A main housing(20) includes a keypad. A sliding housing(30) has an extended receiver for receiving an antenna device, and makes the antenna device put in and out on the main housing(20) according to sliding movements. An LED(24) and a light detector(39) transmit signals outputted from the keypad to a main board of the sliding housing(30). The first grooves(38a,38b) are on a front end of the sliding housing(30). The second groove(22) is curved on a back end of the main housing(20). The first grooves(38a,38b) and the second groove(22) are contacted with each other according to sliding movements of the sliding housing(30), to rotate the sliding housing(30).
