PURPOSE: A barcode reader is provided to read a 2-dimensional barcode, to reduce the production cost and enhance the processing speed by using a CMOS(complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor. CONSTITUTION: The barcode reader consists of a CMOS image sensor(10), a micro controller(20), a signal processing part(30) and a memory(40). The CMOS image sensor captures a front image by receiving a trigger signal from the micro controller and stores the captured image in the memory through the signal processing part. The micro controller controls whole operation of the barcode reader including the CMOS image sensor, the signal processing part and the memory(40), and decodes the captured moving data by the CMOS image sensor, and executes a function of interfacing to an outer data processing unit. The signal processing part includes a buffer(32), a bus transmitting part(34) and a memory control part(36). The buffer receives the digital image data from the CMOS image sensor and stores the temporally stored data in the memory in response to a control signal of the bus transmitting part. The bus transmitting part reads and transfers the data stored in the memory to the micro controller in response to a control signal of the micro controller.
