INHALER PRESSURE RELEASE MECHANISM

An inhaler comprising a sealed reservoir 42 including a dispensing port communicating with a channel 52 and possessing a conduit leading to a pressure relief port 116 also located in the channel. The channel contains a cup assembly 96 comprising a recess in a sled 100, the cup receiving powdered medicament when aligned with the reservoirs dispensing port and the sled defining a second sealing surface which seals the pressure relief port in this position. The cup assembly, which is biassed towards a position unaligned with the dispensing port by a spring 104, may be moved along the channel when a yoke moves a retaining ratchet allowing a first sealing surface 98 to seal the reservoir dispensing port and an indentation in the sled to unseal the pressure relief port. The yoke also possesses a push bar for returning the cup assembly to its aligned position.
