PURPOSE: To provide an information recorder and information recording method with which a portable telephone can execute reservation video recording as the setting. CONSTITUTION: When a hard disk recorder 3 recognizes that reservation video recording set by a user cannot be executed because the idle capacity of a built-in hard disk 43 is deficient, the hard disk recorder 3 enables a communication antenna 6 to transmit a notice of deficient capacity to a portable telephone 14 of the user. A management server 10 converts the notice-sent from the hard disk recorder 3, into a data form able to be outputted by the portable telephone 14 and transmits the converted data to the telephone 14. The user confirming the notice of deficient capacity, by using the telephone 14 requests data of a program having already been stored by the hard disk recorder 3. The user selects programs to be deleted from the program data stored in the hard disk recorder 3 and ensures idle capacity by deleting the selected programs.
