PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for controlling the operation of a granular plastic molded article granulation apparatus for keeping the quality of a granular plastic raw material and ensuring high productivity. SOLUTION: A storage device 6 is arranged on the upstream side of a granulation apparatus 7 and a softening/melting/extrusion molding type granulor is used as a granulator 9 and, when it is detected that the raw material charged into the granulator 9 is reduced to a predetermined amount or less or ready to reduce to the predetermined amount or less, the standby operation of the granulator constituted so as to suppress the lowering of the temperature of the die and extrusion fixture of the granulator is started. As the standby operation, operation for starting the operation of the granulator is performed for a predetermined time while a substance constituted of a material, which is a granular substance different from the charged raw material and has hardness less than that of the die and the extrusion fixture like rice bran and has physical properties not melted when extruded during the starting of the granulator, is supplied to the granulator.
