PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a luminophor involving uniformly coating the surface of luminophor particles with glass, thus enabling the final luminophor in the form of particles to be easily obtained, to provide the luminophor produced by the above method, and to provide display substrates and display devices each having the above luminophor. SOLUTION: This luminophor is obtained through the following steps: (S1) a phosphor 1 as a solid solution comprising a sulfide or sulfoxide and a luminescent center substance is added to an aqueous solution containing water-glass 2 followed by stirring; (S2) the resultant aqueous solution is added to an aqueous solution 3 of a metal salt followed by stirring; (S3) the fluophor particles are forcedly extracted from the resulting aqueous solution; and (S4) the fluophor particles thus extracted are dried. The other objective display substrate and display device are obtained by coating glass substrates or the like with the luminophor 4 produced above, etc.
