PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard film having fine holes on a surface thereof, giving a liquid collecting effect when using machining liquid or lubricating liquid to extend life span of tools such as tip, drill, mold, and sliding components such as a bearing, even under a hard usage condition, and to provide a covering tool thereof. SOLUTION: A surface of the hard film covering a base material surface is studded with fine holes which are not less than 1.0μm in depth, 0.5 to 5μm in average diameter, 0.02 to 0.20 in total area ratio of an opening portion to surface area of the hard film. As compared with a conventional hard film of the same type, a lubricating property is ensured by supply of the machining liquid or the lubricating liquid due to the liquid collecting effect, so that life span of tools and sliding components can be extended.
