PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably prevent the collision of a rough bar with a heating unit when the heating unit is installed on the inlet side of a finishing mill and the rough bar is heated with the heating unit. SOLUTION: Side guides for restraining the rough bar are installed on the inlet side of the heating unit. The relationship between the distance L1 between the center in the length direction of the parallel part of the side guide and the end of the outlet side of the heating unit and the length L2 of the parallel part satisfies the formula 1 and, when the difference between the inside width of the heating unit and the width of the rough bar is expressed by 2δ, the width of the opening of the side guide is adjusted so that the difference dW between the width of the opening and the width of the rough bar satisfies the formula 2. L2/L1<=1.0...(1), dW<=δ×(L2/L1)2/4...(2).
