PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus in which multistage focus is carried out and which relaxes a joint in image accompanying change- over of focus points. SOLUTION: For instance, four transmitting/receiving are carried out per one transmitting/receiving azimuth. A gain function is set in each transiting/ receiving corresponding to the depth of transmitting/receiving focus point. A weighting summing is executed on plural received signals corresponding to the gain function. Because an overlap area exists, a joint is relaxed. Because all four received signals are used from a shallow area to a deep area, the S/N ratio is advantageously improved.
