A ring (2), e.g. an outer ring bearing, is removed from a press-fit against an inner cylindrical wall (3) in a casing (4) using a device (1) which can be moved in and out of the casing cavity in an axial direction. The ring removal device has at least two protrusions (7) extending in its radial direction and having a shape corresponding to the profile of a peripheral groove (5) in the inner surface of the ring. A locking device (10-13) is provided for fixing the protrusions into position and a mechanism is also provided for moving the device in the axial direction. An Independent claim is also included for a ring removal method using this device.
