PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member for electronic apparatus, such as hard disk drives, and a sintered silicon nitride compact which eliminates the trouble by static electricity when used for bearing balls and can efficiently radiate friction heat when rotated at a high speed. SOLUTION: This sintered silicon nitride compact contains carbide particles and nitride particles as electrical conductivity imparting particles and is confined in the area rate of the flocculated parts of the electrical conductivity imparting particles of <=1 μm in the inter-particle distance between electrical conductivity imparting particles to <=30%.
