PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidation-resistant carbonaceous material exhibiting excellent oxidation resistance even at a high temperature range, being free from the problems related to adhesion with a contact material and capable of maintaining the oxidation resistance for a long period of time, and to provide a method of producing the same. SOLUTION: The oxidation-resistant carbonaceous material is obtained by coating the surface of a carbonaceous material 1 with an oxidation-resistant film. The oxidation-resistant film is a multilayer body comprising a boron- containing layer 2 containing at least one boron compound selected from carbides, oxides and nitrides of boron and an oxide ceramic layer 3, preferably, including micro-cracks 4a.
