摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that a small and deep groove is machined in a hard work in a short time. SOLUTION: The relative moving direction of a tool and the work is classified into the direction substantially parallel to the axis of the tool and the direction substantially orthogonal to the axis of the tool, and the relative moving speed of the tool to the work is switched by the direction. The cutting resistance is largely different in a conventional practice between the machining in the direction orthogonal to the axis of the tool while mainly using a side surface of the tool and the deep machining in the direction parallel to the axis of the tool while mainly using a tip of the tool. However, in this method, the load per unit time on the tool is substantially constant, and the work can be machined without any excessive load or any waste of time at insufficiently small load.
