PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive paper feeder having paper feed rollers for feeding paper from a paper bundle and capable of smoothly feeding the paper, stably feeding the paper by surely separating the paper one by one, and being adjusted easily. SOLUTION: The paper feed rollers 110 of this paper feeder 100 are allowed to abut on the upper surface of the uppermost paper PP of as stacked paper bundle at paper feed points 114, and feeds the paper PP along the BP direction on the contact plane at the paper feed points 114. A sorting roller 120 forming a sorting nip NP by abutting on the paper feed rollers 110 and sorting the paper PP is installed on the downstream side of the paper feed points 114 in the paper feed direction. The device further comprises a guide part 152 for guiding the paper PP, and a sorting guide 150 allowing the tip side 153 of the guide part 152 to be pressed thereagainst is installed on the peripheral surface of the paper feed rollers 110 between the paper feed points 114 and the sorting nip NP.
