PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a disphenol A, capable of reducing loads given onto a dehydration tower which removes water from the reaction mixture containing unreacted phenol, when the bisphenol A is produced in the presence of an organopolysiloxane. SOLUTION: In this method for producing the bisphenol A comprising continuously reacting phenol with acetone in the presence of the organopolysiloxane which has sulfonate residue-containing hydrocarbon residues and mercapto residue-containing hydrocarbon residues, the reaction mixture obtained by the above reaction is dividedly supplied to a dehydration process where formed water is removed from the reaction mixture and a circulation process where the reaction mixture is not supplied to the dehydration process but directly returned to a reactor for the reaction.
