PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating lumber wherein suppression of a surface crack of lumber, suppression of an internal crack of lumber, suppression of discoloring of lumber, suppression of warpage of lumber, suppression of distorsion of lumber, uniformly drying to an inside of lumber, reduction of an initial cost of a dryer, and reduction of a running cost of the dryer can be achieved. SOLUTION: When the lumber is pretreated or dried, vibration is applied to the lumber. For example when the lumber is heated, when the lumber is steamed and boiled, when the lumber is dried, when the lumber is humidly conditioned, when the lumber is cooled after drying, when pressurizing is carried out in the dryer, or when decompression is carried out in the dryer, vibration is applied. The lumber is loaded on a truck via a sash bar, and a heat transferring component of a high heat conductivity is inserted between respective sash bars to make transmission of heat to the lumber constant.
