PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding method of a roll for imparting uniform crossed ground marks without any irregularity of grinding easily and efficiently, and to provide a rolling roll by which a high-gloss metallic sheet without any irregularity in gloss can stably be rolled. SOLUTION: When the roll is ground by using a hollow disk-shaped grinding wheel, bringing the grinding wheel into contact with the rotated rolling roll while rotating the grinding wheel and relatively moving the wheel in the axial direction of the roll, the offset of the grinding wheel is taken as >0 to <1/2 of the outside diameter of the grinding wheel. In this grinding method of the rolling roll, in the case that the grinding wheel is equally divided by planes including the circumference of the roll, the crossed grinding marks are imparted by bringing the grinding wheel into contact with the roll so that the contact faces of the grinding wheel with the roll are present on both sides of the line for equally dividing the grinding wheel.
